Enterobacteriaceae species causing an outbreak in hospital A genome sequencing and assembly

Extended spectrum beta-lactamase resistant Enterobacteracieae, representing multiple genera and resistance mechanisms, were discovered in a ICU step-down unit shared by both pediatric and adult patients. Among the recovered isolates, VIM was the most commonly encountered resistance mechanism, prompting a WGS approach to determine the identity and relatedness of any plasmids shared between isolates.
