Crocus sativus is a sterile triploid with estimated genome size of 10,5 Gbp. It''s genome size and polyploidy status hamper the efforts of its assembly. In order to facilitate assembly of two largest chromosome types in saffron, the sequencing of 18 single chromosomes from triplets 1 and 2 isolated by flow cytometry was performed.
