Dataset for “AI-Assisted Literary-to-Song Adaptation: A Practice-Based Study of Generative AI and Text-to-Audio Creative Production” Author: Panagiotis FotarisInstitution: University of BrightonArtist name: Bynar Dataset description-------------------This dataset supports the article “AI-Assisted Literary-to-Song Adaptation: A Practice-Based Study of Generative AI and Text-to-Audio Creative Production”. It contains the final audio files, tracklists, source information, lyrics, and corpus metadata for a practice-based study of AI-assisted literary-to-song adaptation. The corpus consists of thirty-two songs based on public-domain literary texts, mainly works by H. P. Lovecraft, with additional adaptations of works by Edgar Allan Poe, Christina Rossetti, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, and M. R. James. The songs were produced under the artist name Bynar. They were developed through a workflow involving literary analysis, researcher-written lyric adaptation, selective line-level large language model revision, text-to-audio generation, iterative selection and repair, and post-production. Folder structure----------------The dataset is organised into three album folders: 1. Eldritch Dreams2. Underneath the Void3. Beneath the Pale Moon Each album folder contains: - final MP3 files for the songs in that album- a text file containing the album tracklist, literary source information, and final lyrics The top-level file corpus_metadata.csv provides a corpus-level overview of the thirty-two songs. Contents--------corpus_metadata.csv Metadata for the full corpus, including track number, album title, song title, duration, audio filename, lyrics file, literary source, source author, source type, primary lyric strategy, detailed case-study status, and notes. Eldritch Dreams/ Final MP3 files and a tracklist/source/lyrics text file for the album Eldritch Dreams. Underneath the Void/ Final MP3 files and a tracklist/source/lyrics text file for the album Underneath the Void. Beneath the Pale Moon/ Final MP3 files and a tracklist/source/lyrics text file for the mini-album Beneath the Pale Moon. Source texts------------The dataset does not reproduce the original literary source texts. The source texts are public-domain works, and the editions consulted are cited in the related article. The metadata file identifies the literary source used for each song. Additional workflow materials-----------------------------Additional workflow materials supporting the analysis are held by the author. These include selected lyric drafts, prompts, settings, regeneration records, retained generated clips, exported stems, and Adobe Audition session files. These materials may be available from the author upon reasonable request. Access to some materials may be restricted because they include platform-generated outputs and materials created through third-party services, including Udio and LALAL.AI.
