资源简介:
Rattus norvegicus is a worldwide pest in rural landscapes. Despite its ubiquity, there has been limited exploration into its dispersal capabilities within these environments. We addressed this issue using RAD-seq markers of 93 individuals captured in 16 farms along two perpendicular transects, a river and a road, in a rural landscape in central Argentina. A matrix of 764 SNPs was obtained and used for population genetics and kinship analyses. No clear pattern of population structure was identified, suggesting a high level of gene flow among all samples. Nevertheless, farms from neighbouring localities exhibited a tendency to cluster together in the neighbour-joining tree.. We detected a pattern of isolation by distance along the road but not along the river, and also the presence of half and full siblings at distances longer than 30 km in both transects, suggesting both active and passive dispersal by human transport. We conclude that the road acts as a corridor through generations, associated to a pattern of isolation-by-distance; however we could not detect any discernible pattern along the river. Nevertheless, we found a few relatives at considerable distances along the river, suggesting that watercourses may act as corridors but in a single generation. These findings will help to understand why this species is difficult to control in farms when control actions are conducted individually by each farmer.
