The study aimed at identifying the biosynthetic gene cluster of negamycin, a metabolite produced by Kitasatopsora purpeofusca that possess antibacterial activities against pathogens from the ESKAPE list (Klebsiella pneumoniae, Enterobacter spp., Pseudomonas aeruginosa). It also promotes the readthrough of premature termination codons (PTC), of interest for the treatment of genetic diseases caused by nonsense mutations.
