Helicobacter kumamotonensis sp. nov. isolated from human clinical specimen

An isolate (PAGU 1991T) with Gram-stain-negative, and spiral-formed bacterium was isolated from blood of the diffuse large B-cell lymphoma patient. Phylogenetic analysis using 16S rRNA and 23S rRNA gene sequences and GyrA amino acid sequence, and in silico hybridization analysis using the whole genome sequence data demonstrated that PAGU 1991T and another human isolate PAGU 1750 should be categorized as a novel species. Morphological data and biochemical data also supported these results. From these data, we proposed a novel species for these two human isolates for which the name Helicobacter kumamotonensis sp. nov. with the type strain PAGU 1991T.
