Water Lily Biofilms

In this study, we sequenced the bacteria, fungi, and algae living in the biofilm on the leaves of two water lily species. Half of the leaves were floating on the pond surface while half were buried in the pond sediment. The goal of this study was the understand the microbial community composition at each depth in order to elucidate the role of biofilms in leaf decay.
