Fish diversity in abandoned paddy fields and ponds within the southwestern watersheds of Lake Kasumigaura, Japan

This study examined the ecosystem services and biodiversity of abandoned paddy fields and ponds in the Kasumigaura watershed in Japan. To survey the biodiversity, fish were examined using environmental DNA, while damselflies were examined by sighting and capture. We analyzed the trade-offs and synergies between ecosystem services and biodiversity indicators in order to determine the effects of hydrological and environmental conditions on them.
