Upland deciduous forest soil 16S rRNA sequencing

Forest ecosystems perform vital functions including storing carbon and fostering biodiversity. Disturbances can negatively impact these forest functions, leading to declines in carbon sequestration and above- and belowground biodiversity. Most research on the effects of disturbances on forest ecosystem health focus on a single disturbance. We investigated the interactive effects of canopy gaps, surface fire and herbivory on the soil microbiome and carbon storage in a temperate eastern forest.
