资源简介:

Ulcerative colitis (UC) is an inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) that affects all or part of the large intestine causing inflammation and ulceration of the mucosa of the organ. Ulcerative colitis can affect the quality of life, and in some cases, can cause life-threatening complications.‎ Biologic drugs such as Infliximab (IFX) and Adalimumab (ADA) are anti-TNF-α, administered to patients for reducing colonic inflammation. If other conventional treatment choices fail, they act as alternatives for treating the disease.‎ The aim of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness of IFX and ADA ‎in patients with ulcerative colitis. the study included One hundred patients who had previous diagnosed with UC at least before 3 months, the treatment protocols prescribed by the physicians in the GIT center and were treated by biologic therapy (all patients did not receive any previous TNF inhibitor). The patients assigned into two groups; 1st group of (70 UC patients) received Infliximab and the 2nd group of (30 UC patients) received Adalimumab. All patients were followed up for 6 months after the initiation of the biological agents.
