RemoTrees WP2: Forest Monitoring Site and Tree Metadata and Ancillary Data
收藏资源简介:
This dataset and its accompanying workflow support the spatial design, deployment and documentation of forest monitoring networks within Work Package 2 of RemoTrees, a Horizon Europe project combining forest sensing, satellite communication and Earth observation for hard-to-reach forests. The workflow integrates available LiDAR, Sentinel-2, environmental data and forest inventories to delineate monitoring domains and identify trees, support areas and deployment coordinates for Nature 4.0’s RemoTrees devices: RT-T (trunk), RT-S (soil) and RT-R (radiation). It connects deployment planning with field observations and installation records, preserving the distinction between proposed locations and actual installations. The data collection includes source datasets and derived products, including LiDAR point clouds, terrain and canopy models, Sentinel-2 time-series and biophysical products, tree and crown attributes, imagery and field records. Research-QA figures and site dossiers document processing results and their interpretation. A dedicated set of CSV and JSON tables provides site and tree metadata, device installation records and ancillary data for subsequent integration into the WP3 FROST-based platform. Built with open-source R, Python and geospatial tools, the workflow organizes data, metadata and methods following the DataPLANT Annotated Research Context (ARC) approach. Git version control, Git LFS, documented software dependencies and processing provenance support reproducibility, traceability and reuse in line with FAIR principles. This release covers five Level I sites. San Francisco (Ecuador) currently provides the monitoring design and candidate support areas; field-selected trees and installation observations await field acquisition. Application to Level II sites is planned for a subsequent release. This Zenodo deposit contains the WP3 metadata and ancillary-data delivery with its supporting documentation. The broader LiDAR, Sentinel-2 and other source and processing products remain in the private DataPLANT repository and are not included in this archive.
