资源简介:
This collection comprises images and reports from a basic building survey (level 1), a buildings appraisal and a desk based assessment at Mount St Mary's Church, Richmond Hill. Work was carried out by AOC Archaeology Group between February and March 2007. The aims were to identify the archaeological and architectural heritage value of the site proposed for development and to determine the nature, condition and significance of the church and attached presbytery, including artefacts both in situ and removed. Mount St Mary's is a rare example in England of a large 19th century Catholic church which retains a great many features one would not find in contemporary churches of other denominations. The complex of Catholic buildings on Richmond Hill. along with the nearby Anglican Church of St Saviour's, are the only remaining items of the 19th century landscape in the area of Richmond Hill.
