Comparative systematics and phylogeography of Quercus section Cerris in West Eurasia: inferences from plastid and nuclear DNA variation. Phylogepography of Quercus section Cerris in Western Eurasia

We investigated 5S-IGS and trnH-psbA molecular diversity in western Eurasian Cerris oaks using a thorough intra-/interspecific sampling. Our objectives were: (i) to assess species coherence and delimitation, (ii) to infer inter-species relationships; (iii) to gain insight into the group origin and diversification; (iv) to identify key areas for the group evolution.
