Antibiotic overuse in hospitals drives antimicrobial resistance (AMR). In India, institution-specific prescribing surveillance is sparse, particularly in the South Indian tertiary care setting. Point prevalence surveys (PPS) using the WHO standardized methodology provide an efficient, comparable means of capturing antibiotic prescribing patterns and identifying stewardship targets.
