In this study, we collected samples of Suaeda maritima in three salt marsh zones: pioneer zone, lower salt marsh and upper salt marsh. The salt marsh selected for this study is located on the island of Spiekeroog (Germany). We investigated the fungal communities associated with roots of S. maritima by using Illumina sequencing (ITS1 region rDNA).
