Data: Scale-dependent effects of industrial disturbances on temporal β diversity of bird communities in boreal forests
收藏资源简介:
This dataset accompanies the manuscript “Scale-dependent effects of industrial disturbances on temporal β diversity of bird communities in boreal forests” (Submitted to Ecology and Evolution). The study quantified temporal β diversity of breeding bird communities at 34 Monitoring Avian Productivity and Survivorship (MAPS) stations in the Athabasca Oil Sands Region, Alberta, Canada, from 2011 to 2024. We partitioned temporal β diversity into turnover and nestedness components at one-year and five-year temporal lags. We then tested how changes in the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), edge density, harvest and linear and polygonal energy footprints at three spatial scales (150, 500 and 1000 m) influenced temporal β diversity and its components. The repository includes two data files with pairwise β diversity values and environmental predictors for the one-year lag (TemporalBeta_Predictors_1yrLag.csv) and the five-year lag (TemporalBeta_Predictors_5yrLag.csv), a station location file, two R scripts for β diversity partitioning and beta regression modelling and a README file that describes files and variables. Files: MAPS_Location_Data.csv: station names and geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude) of the 34 MAPS stations. TemporalBeta_Predictors_1yrLag.csv: pairwise temporal β diversity values for consecutive years (one-year lag) at each station. It includes total β diversity, turnover and nestedness based on Sørensen and Jaccard dissimilarity, net hours and environmental predictor values for both years at the three spatial scales. TemporalBeta_Predictors_5yrLag.csv: pairwise temporal β diversity values for years five years apart (five-year lag) at each station. It includes total β diversity, turnover and nestedness based on Sørensen dissimilarity, net hours and environmental predictor values for both years at the three spatial scales. RCode_Temporal beta diversity partitioning.txt: R code used to calculate and partition temporal β diversity into turnover and nestedness components at each station. RCode_Beta regression of temporal beta diversity.txt: R code used to fit the beta regression models, model selection and averaging, model diagnostics and the variable importance heatmap. readme_metadata.txt: description of all files, variables and units.
