NYCDEP Catskill Reservoirs (NY): water quality, 1984-2011

This data set is derived from the NY City’s Department of Environmental Protection’s Watershed Protection Program. This involves the monitoring of several reservoirs that provide the drinking water for the City of New York. Nineteen reservoirs provide drinking water to the City, but this data set includes 5 sites in the west Hudson region (except for Rondout Reservoir, which was excluded because it is strongly influenced by water transfers to the system and has a very short residence time) due to restrictions on data usage. In addition to the data set described here, NYCDEP also provided temp/DO profile data. Five reservoirs are included in this data set: Ashokan- east and west basins, Cannonsville, Neversink, Pepacton, and Schoharie. Multiple sites are sampled within each reservoir, and multiple depths are sampled at each site. Often, sampling focuses on epilimnetic and hypolimnetic layers, but often more detailed profiles are included. Temporal sampling: Sampled roughly every two weeks from April or May through November or December of each year. However, not all variables and all depths were sampled on all dates, and in some years, sampling is more intensive.
