The organization mobility of scientists, their occupation situation and
their integration in a small town with heterogeneous population.

Topics: Importance of municipal institutions for well-being in the
municipality; attitude to local controversies such as community school,
attracting industrial businesses and constructing a town hall;
political interest and political extent to which informed about local
political matters; tax reduction versus increase in social services of
the government; sympathy in wage conflicts; perceived influence of
trade unions, industry and church in the FRG; friendships and type of
relations with friends; religious denomination and party preference of
friends; contacts with colleagues; position in the institute; power
distribution in the institute and in the nuclear research facility;
personal influence on the research and development program of the
institute; actual and ideal division of work as well as research goals
of the institute; work satisfaction (scale); party preference; voting
decision in the Federal Parliament election and the city council
election 1969; local residency and regional origins; media usage;
membership in clubs and committees; desire for personal house
ownership.

Demography: age; sex; marital status; number of children; ages of
children (classified); religious denomination; religiousness; housing
situation; place of birth.

Interviewer rating: length of interview; presence of other persons and
interventions of such persons in the course of interview; reliability
and willingness of respondent to cooperate; number of contact attempts
and appointment agreements.

Also encoded from the sample records was: activity area and institute
department; occupational group; tax class and duration of employment.

As individual performance measure of the scientist scientific
publications of the respondent were analysed and the data added to the
survey data.
