Sediment cores were collected from three salt marshes in Wells, Maine during the summer of 1993. The purpose was to characterize soil bulk density and carbon content in a tidally restricted marsh (Drakes Island) associated with tidal restoration, compared with two reference marshes (Webhannet and Little River).
