Serratia fonticola strain UTAD54 was isolated from a drinking water fountain in Portugal. This is an exceptional strain, in the sense that, besides the naturally occurring beta-lactamases, it produces two unique carbapenemases: the class A beta-lactamase SFC-1 and the metallo-beta-lactamase Sfh-I. To further investigate the molecular basis of beta-lactam resistance in S. fonticola UTAD54 as well as the genomic context of blaSFC-1 and blaSfh-I we report here the draft genome of the strain.
