XMM LEGACY-TYPE PROGRAM FOR THE STUDY OF GALAXY CLUSTER STRUCTURE

Galaxy clusters are important tools for probing the cosmic largescale structureevolution and for performing precision tests of cosmological models. Thelimiting factor for the application of clusters in such cosmological studies iscurrently the uncertainty in the relation between the observed Xray luminosity(or temperature) and the cluster mass needed for the theoretical modeling. Inview of the large efforts currently undertaken in Xray cluster surveys andevolutionary studies (also using XMM extensively) it is crucial to pin down thecluster scaling relations at low z in a first step.
