Scalable Manufacturing of Layered Nanopartcle-Polymer Composite Films Through Evaporative Assembly

The Life Science X-ray Sca`ering (LIX, 16-ID) beamline at the National Synchrotron LightSource II (NSLS-II) facility in Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) was used to conductmicrobeam small-angle X-ray scattering experiments. During the experiment, a two-slit systemwas used to generate an X-ray micro-beam with a full-width half-maximum of 5 μm vertically.Small sections of each film sample were positioned on a 3D-printed stage to perform X-ray scattering measurements. These measurements were conducted at room temperature understandard atmospheric conditions. To capture data across the depth of the film, the sample wasincrementally moved through a microfocused X-ray beam in 5 μm steps. This process wasrepeated at five different positions within the film.
