SE.OF Oceanographic observations — mean water level

The mean water level of the year is used as the reference level when the water level is indicated relative to the mean water level. When the mean water level is calculated, intermediate year variations and slow trends such as global sea level change and land elevation are filtered away. The mean water level of the year is not the same as the annual average.
