Macrophomina phaseolina isolate:strawberry Genome sequencing and assembly. Macrophomina phaseolina isolate:strawberry

This is an assembly for an isolate of the fungus Macrophomina phaseolina that was recovered from strawberry. M. phaseolina causes charcoal rot in strawberry which results in crown discoloration and eventual plant death, thus resulting in a decreased yield in infested fields. This isolate from strawberry, along with an isolate recovered from alfalfa were sequenced and the genomes were compared, along with other draft genomes of M. phaseolina from other species, to identify genes that are unique to M. phaseolina isolates that show host specificity toward strawberry. This genome is the most complete M. phaseolina genome to date and is also intended to be a resource for future studies.
