High levels of IL-1beta can result in chronic inflammation, which can promote tumor growth and metastasis. Inhibition of IL-1beta could therefore be a promising therapeutic option in the treatment of cancer. The effects of IL-1beta blockade induced by the monoclonal antibodies canakinumab and gevokizumab were evaluated in dissociated human CRC cells in vitro.
