Our final goal is to refine maggot debridement therapy (MDT) which is applied to debride necrotic tissue as a treatment for chronic wounds in humans and animals. In MDT, larvae of carrion blowfly, Lucilia sericata, are traditionally employed as a scavenger. This project aims to evaluate debriding ability of carrion blowfly strains and reveal their molecular characteristics.
