Share of physicians working in practices offering weekend access 2022

In 2022, the share of primary care physicians who work in practices offering weekend access varied greatly from one country to another. According to this 2022 survey, the percentage of surveyed doctors who work in practices offering access on Saturdays or Sundays ranged from one to 79 percent among selected countries. For example, that year, 79 percent of doctors in Australia reported that their practice offered out-of-hours access to their registered patients on weekends. France and Canada followed, with 61 and 52 percent of surveyed physicians stated to provide out-of-hours access during the working week, respectively. On the other hand, only one percent of surveyed physicians in the Netherlands said to work in practices open during the weekend.
