We collected the daily number of online posts containing keywords related to COVID-19 (including "COVID", “pneumonia”,” “infection”,” “suspected cases”,” and “symptoms”) from the East Money Forum, (https://guba.eastmoney.com/), one of the largest online forums in China, hosting 62.52 million active users. We also collected the daily number of relevant media mentions based on 299 major newspaper and online media. The online posts and media mentions are traced to the provinces where the senders and media were located.
