The Scottish and Welsh Referendum Studies were conducted immediately after the 1997 referendums on devolution. The objectives were to:<br> understand the sources of support for constitutional change in Scotland and Wales and the influences on voting behaviour in the referendums;<br> to explore the expectations which the electorates had of their parliament/ assembly;<br> to assess how voters are likely to behave at future elections to the parliament/assembly;<br> to assess the possible impact the parliament/assembly may have on future constitutional change;<br> comparative analysis of Scotland and Wales
