Dataset of tropical cyclone-affected areas (D1.4)

This dataset encompasses the key impact variables of tropical cyclones (TCs) from 1950 to 2023, capturing affected areas from winds, rainfall, and storm surges. The data, provided at 300 arc-second (~10 km) resolution is in netCDF format. Hourly-resolution datasets include winds and rainfall derived using the H08 (semi-empirical) and ER11 (physics-based) wind models, as well as the TCR rainfall model. For storm surge, the dataset integrates geoclaw simulations to provide flood depth estimates. Additional atmospheric variables required for rainfall modeling are sourced from ERA5 reanalysis. The datasets encompasses lifetime maximum winds, maximum 24-hour rainfall totals, and maximum surge depths are included for all IBTrACS tropical cyclones 1950-2023, with provisional data extending to October 2024. The dataset supports hazard and impact assessments for case studies and global analyses. For more details, see the README.md file.
