This project aims to reveal molecular mechanisms of heart-specific alternative pre-mRNA splicing by a vertebrate-specific RNA-binding protein RBM20. Because missense mutations in the RSRSP stretch of RBM20 cause dilated cardiomyopathy, the project also aims to elucidate consequences of the disease-causing mutations in the Rbm20-gene-edited animals.
