A patient with COVID-19 was transferred from Mexico to the USA, where he received extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) COVID-19. Providencia rettgeri, resistant to all known antibiotics, including the novel siderophore cephalosporin, cefiderocol, was cultured from the blood. Whole genome sequencing detected ten antimicrobial resistance genes, including blaNDM-1, blaPER-1, and rmtB2.
