Youth Survey, 1980

Statistics Norway has five times completed youth surveys commissioned by the Directorate of Labour and Ministry of Local Government and Modernisation. The surveys were conducted in 1975, 1980, 1981, 1985 and 1990.
These surveys provide information about the main aspects of adolescent attachment to school and labor market, experiences with the labour market, the education system and in particular the transition from one to the other. The last issue is more pronounced beyond the 1980s. There is particular emphasis on identifying the situation of the young people who neither attended school nor were employed. In the first two surveys, in 1975 and 1980, adolescent was regarded up to the age of 19, but in the survey from 1980 this was changed to the age of 24. The last youth survey of this type were carried out in 1990.
