Megalopta genalis Transcriptome or Gene expression

As the first step toward using transcriptomic analyses of M. genalis to better understand the role of developmental phenotypic plasticity in the origins of eusociality, we sequenced and assembled a developmental transcriptome. We used this transcriptome to survey the extent of plasticity in gene expression in M. genalis, and identified molecular pathways with highly plastic gene expression. We characterized changes in gene expression throughout development, from egg to adult stages, in both males and females. Submitted to SRA are the raw reads from all 60 libraries sequenced and used for assessment of gene expression differences.
