Distribution of couples who underwent fertility treatments in Italy 2021, by cause

In 2021, almost 9.8 thousand couples underwent fertility treatments by conjugal artificial insemination in Italy. This statistic breaks down this figure by infertility cause. At that time, unexplained (idiopathic) infertility was found to be the major problem for 40.5 percent of the couples. Male infertility accounted for around 15.3 percent of the total, whereas infertility in both partners was an issue for about 11.6 percent of the analyzed couples.
