These volumes record information such as: date, number of case, complainant’s name, defendant’s name, offence, fines, values, and wages, costs, expiration of time allowed for payment, when capias was issued, who received by, when imprisoned as per gaol return, amount paid, when paid, and any remarks.The volume dating from 1912 to 1938 includes a folder with the heading “Returns - Warrants of Commitments and Gaol.” The forms contained within it date from 31 March 1926 to 30 December 1937. The folder includes 21 “Return of Commitment Warrants” forms. These include date of conviction, date of warrant, defendant’s name, their offence, the amount of the fine, M.D. folio, and remarks. On the back of each page are “Instructions regarding the Compilation of Quarterly Returns of Unexecuted Commitment Warrants.” The folder also contains three forms with the heading: “Return of prisoners received at His Majesty’s Gaol at Hay under Warrants and Commitment, where time has been allowed for payment,” and eight referring to the Police Lockup at Balranald. These forms include such information as the date of reception into prison, the date when the warrant was executed, the name of the prisoner, the date of conviction, their offence and sentence.
