NRS-8125 | Surrender documents [Deeds Branch, Department of Lands]

These documents concern the surrender of lands to the Crown, for example in road access cases. They contain the originals of all legal documents including the Instrument or Deed of Surrender (or exchange in some cases), indentures and occasionally correspondence or banking papers.The records are arranged alphabetically by the name of the person or company surrendering the land. Each record features a unique number and a reference to the sub branch which was occasionally abbreviated in the following way: ‘Aln’ for the Alienation Branch,  'Ex' for the Exchange Branch, ‘Ls’ for the Leases Department, ‘Parks’ for the Pastures Protection Board, ‘S’ for a search conducted by the Securities Branch, ‘Sl’ for the Sales Branch, ‘Ten’ for the Tenure Branch, and ‘Msc’ for Miscellaneous.
