Bacteria biomass, bacteria identities and bacteria with ability to produce anti-microbial compounds were among the data generated from this project.
The major objectives of this project are as follows:
1. To document the biodiversity of bacteria in Antarctica;
2. To establish a collection of Antarctic bacteria
3. To isolate and characterise bacteria with anti-microbial activities
We have gone to the Antarctic twice in collaboration with the NCAOR, India and INACH, Chile.
We are in the progress of setting up the facilities to store the bacteria for reference and future use.
