资源简介:

Safety improvement corridors funded through Detroit’s 2022 Safe Streets for All Award (SS4A).

Safe Streets for Detroit (SS4D) is a response to a dramatic 88% increase in Detroit’s traffic fatality rate from 2017 to 2020, highlighting the urgent need for action. To address this crisis, the City of Detroit applied for and was awarded a $24.8 million SS4D grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT). This funding supports a citywide effort to redesign streets for safety and accessibility. A total of 31 miles of safety improvements will be delivered across 17 priority corridors throughout the city. The work is divided into two types of safety protective corridors:

Rapid Implementation - Quick-build, lower-cost measures to deliver safety benefits. These can include upgraded pavement markings, paint-and-post curb bump-outs, signage, and signal timing improvements.

Enhanced Protection - Permanent infrastructure safety improvements that can include concrete curb bump-outs, improved bike lanes, and pedestrian refuge islands.
