Layered two-dimensional conjugated metal-organic frameworks

Layered two-dimensional conjugated metal-organic frameworks have emerged as a new generation of MOF materials featured with strong in-plane conjugation and weak out-of-plane van der Waals force. They have shown a strong potential for being used in a variety of electronic devices but the transport mechanisms in these materials have not been fully understood yet, partially due to the challenging synthesis. Here, we will attempt to gain further insight into the relation of synthesis conditions and type of metal core of the phthalocyanine ligand to the crystallinity and orientation of the resulting films.
