TGA class II transcription factors delay leaf senescence under light deprivation in Arabidopsis

The TGA2/5/6 transcription factors suppress the transcription of ORE1 gene by directly binding to the promoter, thus delaying the onset of leaf senescence under light-limiting conditions. Notably, the TGA2 proteins are gradually degraded upon transfer to darkness, which attenuates the TGA2/5/6-mediated suppression of the ORE1 transcription.
