Toponymic Data for Western Bohemia up to AD 1500

Toponymic Data for Western Bohemia up to AD 1500 is an open-access research dataset documenting historical place names (toponyms) in Western Bohemia (present-day Plzeň and Karlovy Vary Regions, Czech Republic) attested in written sources up to AD 1500. The dataset integrates historical, linguistic and geospatial information to support research in historical linguistics, onomastics, archaeology, medieval history, historical geography and Digital Humanities. The dataset includes historical attestations, reconstructed historical forms, lexical and etymological interpretations, morphological classifications, comparative references to analogous place names in northeastern Bavaria, and georeferenced coordinates (WGS84, EPSG:4326). Historical data are based on published scholarly sources and supplemented with project-generated analytical enrichments. The dataset is distributed in CSV format together with comprehensive documentation, including a README, data dictionary, codebook, citation metadata, licence information and version history. It has been prepared according to the FAIR Data Principles to facilitate long-term preservation, discoverability and reuse through the Zenodo repository.
