Maternal secretin improves metabolic homeostasis in offspring via regulating DNA methylation

we show that the level of secretin is correlated with nutritional status during pregnancy, which is down-regulated by over-nutrition diet--high fat diet (HFD) in pregnant mice, and genetic loss of maternal SCT results in an increased inguinal white adipose tissue and appetite in offspring mice, which is accompanied by abnormal glucose and lipid homeostasis and increased sensitivity to HFD-induced obesity.
