gTREND-Nitrogen - Long-term nitrogen mass balance data for the contiguous United States (1930-2017)

gTREND-Nitrogen is a 250-m grid scale dataset of annual nitrogen (N) fluxes and surplus for the contiguous United States covering the period from 1930–2017. In developing this dataset, we have combined county-scale data from the TREND-Nitrogen dataset with gridded land use and population data to provide fine-scale estimates of major N inputs (fertilizer, manure, biological nitrogen fixation, human waste, atmospheric deposition) and outputs (crop and pasture uptake), allowing for calculation of annual nitrogen surplus.
