The early letters in this volume are probably copies of the first ones written by the Colonial Treasurer's Office, which came into being in 1824. The letter-book is very incomplete, as is evident from the decrease per year of the number of the letters copied therein. The majority of letters are addressed to the Colonial Secretary. The earlier letters are general in content, but it is evident that from about 1829, letters are more personally those of the Colonial Treasurer himself, relating to such subjects as his own leave of absence etc.(4/235). 1 vol.
