All observations were made on the York University Keele Campus, outside the steadman lecture hall building

Sex: Sex was determined by observing the students and judging by appearance.

Backpack: Students were included in the count (O) if they wore a two-strap backpack only. Students not assigned to the "backpack category" were marked (X). This includes any students who had no bag, a purse, laptop-bag, or any other single-strap bag/backpack.
