Participants and Procedure: There are 389 participants from the United States collected through Cloud Research. They completed up to 14 daily surveys over the course of 17 days. Average age was 24.48. Biological sex included 55.7% male and 43.1% female, .9% nonbinary, and .3% preferred not to say. For ethnicity, 81.6 were White, 6.1% were Black, 3.8% were East Asian, 2.6% were Latin American, 2.9% were Bi or multi-ethnic, 2.0% were South Asian, and .6% reported another ethnicity. For religious affiliation, 18.8% were Agnostic, 17.8% were Atheist, 15.4% were Roman Catholic, 14.9% were Evangelical Christian, 13.8% were Mainline Protestant, 8.8% had no affiliation, 6.9% were an "Other" religion that was typically a more specific denomination of Christianity, 1.9% were Jewish, and .5% were Muslim. Measures: Participants were asked questions about gratitude to God, someone close to them, and someone in an authority position over them. They were also asked follow up questions about their motivation to pay gratitude to these targets back or forward, and their relationship with each target. Other measures include daily rituals, political orientation, religious behavior, prosocial behavior and motivation, motivation to develop character, Big 5 personality, meaning in life, life satisfaction, mystical experiences, awe, and other emotions (SEEQ).
