资源简介:
Cancer patients are living longer thanks to developments in oncology research. Nevertheless, debilitating side effects from cancer treatments such as chemotherapy include increased risk of chronic diseases and multi-organ dysfunction, which mimic accelerated aging. Dysbiosis, or abnormalities in the composition of the gut microbiome, increases inflammation and leads to accelerated aging-related cognitive impairment and a lower quality of life, all of which are made worse by cancer treatments. To learn more about the microbiome profile, shotgun sequencing was applied to stool samples from cancer survivors who were cognitively impaired.
