Dataset on Folding Patterns of Automotive Airbags for Frontal Crash Simulations

The dataset is organized into three main folders (1_zig_zag, 2_top_roll, and 3_flat), each containing LS-DYNA input files (*.k), binary outputs (binout0000, binout0004, etc.), and sequential d3plot files documenting the simulation of each airbag folding pattern. These simulations were validated against pendulum test data, and the corresponding experimental and simulation results can be found in multiple CSV files (e.g., experiment_zigZag_1.csv, simulation_topRoll.csv). An HTML file named X Acceleration.html located in the main directory provides the primary visualization of acceleration-time histories for each test and simulation scenario. Experimental data was obtained from the Occupant Safety Research Partnership (https://secure.uscarteams.org/secure/osrp/data/Test-HTML-Pendulum.html, access date 28.02.2025).
