Carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumanii (CRAb) is a critically important pathogen causing serious nosocomial infections with very limited treatment options. We describe a simultaneous hospital outbreak of 2 CRAb strains in an epidemiological setting carrying different plasmids with amongst others the tet(X3) gene, which has not been described before in the Netherlands.
